CleanCopy for ChatGPT ("CleanCopy", "the extension", "we", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use our Chrome extension.

Short version: CleanCopy does not collect, store, transmit, or share any data. All processing happens locally in your browser.

Information We Collect

We collect no personal information of any kind.

CleanCopy:

  • Does not track your browsing activity
  • Does not store or transmit the content you copy
  • Does not access or store clipboard history
  • Does not communicate with any external servers
  • Does not use analytics, cookies, or tracking technologies
  • Does not require an account or login

How the Extension Works

CleanCopy runs entirely within your browser. When you copy content from ChatGPT, the extension briefly processes the copied text in memory to clean formatting and spacing.

  • All processing happens locally on your device
  • The content you copy never leaves your browser
  • No data is sent to CleanCopy, Strickland Digital LLC, or any third-party service

Data Storage

The extension stores only simple configuration preferences (e.g., whether certain cleaning features are enabled). These settings:

  • Are stored locally using Chrome's storage API
  • Are never synced to the cloud
  • Are never transmitted to us or any third party
  • Are removed automatically when you uninstall the extension

No copied content is ever written to storage.

Permissions

CleanCopy requests the minimum permissions required for the extension to function:

  • clipboardWrite — Allows the extension to write cleaned content to your clipboard
  • storage — Allows saving your local preferences
  • Host permissions for ChatGPT pages (chat.openai.com, chatgpt.com) — Required to run the extension script on ChatGPT pages and detect copy events

The extension does not request any permissions beyond what is necessary for core functionality.

Third-Party Services

CleanCopy does not use, connect to, or send data to any third-party services, APIs, or servers.

Children's Privacy

CleanCopy does not collect any information from users, including children under 13 years of age.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will appear on this page with an updated revision date. Since we do not collect user contact information, we cannot send direct notifications of updates.
